I have a guiche which healed fairly quickly. I did have to change the insert so it didn't catch on things. I did apply salt water to ensure no infections and can comfort it by gently rubbing the skin/flesh over the insert. I also turn it each day in the shower to avoid adhesion. But all those actions are good for most piercings.
