A scam from chatting on an adult dating website
Return to DiscussionsWith dating adult websites, if a woman from a far away location says that she is temporarily in your town, that is a red flag. Several women have messaged me that they are now visiting in my town. Let me tell you about when I learned about the red flag. She and I had a online chat session exchanging messages. She had me anticipating shacking up with her in a specific motel in my town. That the motel exists in my town is easily available from the internet. We agreed on a time for us to meet at the motel. I sent a message asking whom should I ask for at the motel registration desk? Her reply was "Hmmm." That should have told me that she is not registered at that motel. Then she informs me that she is with a modeling agency and charges a $500 fee. A later message says that she requires a $300 deposit that must be sent to her by Western Union. Fortunately I came upon technical difficulty with the Western Union website, and I accessed technical support with the website. My telephone rings. The phone call was Western Union needing to verify some things. I got in a conversation with the Western Union representative. The representative warned me that this is a scam and that Western Union has experienced many of these situations. I immediately got wise and canceled the sending of $300. The chat session quickly ended. If I went to the motel at the agreed upon time, I would have been informed that there is no such person registered at the motel. Meanwhile I would have been ripped off for $300.
