What is an Exhibitionist?
Return to DiscussionsI was hesitant to join this group because I really don't think of myself as an exhibitionist. Yes I do enjoy being nude with others and walking on a nude beach. I enjoy looking at other naked bodies and I don't mind being seen nude. For me an Exhibitionist really gets off being seen nude. They are the ones who force their nudity on other people often not really interested in seeing you naked. They are the ones who used to streak. That is quite different from what I like to do. I do enjoy having people see me naked, but it is not really a turn on. I am only naked where is is appropriate to be naked and people expect to see nudity such as the nude beach or resort. I never hide behind a towel in a common locker room. I would have no problem joining in a nude pool or hot tub party.
How do you see exhibitionists? Do posted exhibitionist pictures need to be erect? Most are.
I count myself as an exhibitionist though I won't force my nudity on those who would be offended. It gives me a buzz being seen naked by anyone who wants to see. That may well be in a nudist location. The important thing is that I can be naked amongst others, even if they are fully clothed. But I also push the boundary a bit and get naked where I shouldn't. Today I stripped off in Harrogate, drove naked through the town centre and to and through my home "city" of Ripon. There I took a detour to drive through the entire city.
To me an exhibitionist is someone who gets the greatest pleasure from being seen naked.
NudeJim describes me very well. Ollygrumps begins to describe me, but I don't push the boundary by driving nude through the city. In my opinion your cock doesn't necessarily need to be erect. I suspect that some exhibitionists sexually stimulate themselves to get erect.
I've gotten a "rush" or "buzz" at Orient Beach. Yes, it is a nudist beach and there are many naked people there, but most every day there are taxis and mini-buses full of tourists from the cruise ships that stop there for the "view". And who am I not to give them a show? I think it's an exhibitionist's dream spot. Nudity is expected there and the tourists come to be titillated by the nudists. I always grab a lounge chair on the nude side of the beach near the taxi drop-off area - I'm probably the first naked sunbather they see. I'll often stretch in the lounge chair and get up to leisurely apply sun tan lotion all over my naked body. However, I am mindful not to cross the lineand appear to be openly masturbating. Then either walk down the beach or into the water. Drying off with a small towel can also be a great show to put on as well.
I don't see how you can get a 'rush' or 'buzz' out ofbeing naked in an appropriate area for nudity, exhibitionism isabout being naked where it isn't considered appropriate. I mean, ithardly exhibitionism is you're naked in front of 100 other nakedpeople.
I'll give an example. A place I usually go has sandy nude beaches
set in coves backed by high cliffs. I like rock climbing and here I
can do it naked. So I'm nakedhalf way up this cliff. A bunch
of 15 or so clothed yoga fanatics come round the corner looking for
a place to hold their class. But before they settle down they all
stand and watch me. They watch every move of this crazy old naked
climber as I go up and then as I come back down. Once I'm down they
settle into their class and invite me to join them (still naked).

To me an exhibitionist is one who exhibits. An artist exhibits his work in a gallery and a clothes designer does it on the cat-walk. A nudist exhibits their naked body to anyone who wants to watch, whether they are fellow nudists or textiles. And it's equally valid in a nudist location - unless you apply the textiles' usual misconception that exhibitionism (and nudity) is sexual.
Im with nudist-tom here about the bedroom thing with the woman opposite. I would be doing the same thing in
his position although Id be semi-hard. Having a similar situation
with my garden I have the next door woman some times looking down
at me from her bedroom when Im nude and I love it. She is behind a
curtain but I have seen it moving.
So these 15 yoga fanatics come to a nude beach to dotheir yoga, so they will expect people to be nude it being a nudistbeach, you're already on the nudist beach using it as it namessuggests, so therefore you are not an exhibitionist because you arenude on a nudist beach.You might as well call all nudist exhibitionists if you're going tosay you're one for exhibiting your body on a nudistbeach.
Not so Tom. The official Portugalnaturista.com web site lists 60
naturist beaches in Portugal of which only 7are official. The
majority are listed as "beaches where being nude is usual"
including this one. All that means is that we won't get arrested
for being naked there.There is no sign warning anyone that
there may be nudity and there were only 6 of us nudists on the
beach amongst well over 100 textiles. As most nudists do we kept to
the fare end of the beach. And the yoga class chose to come to that
part of the beach.I did exactly the same thing on the same
beach in February. The only other couple on the beach left in
disgust. I don't take pleasure in upsetting people so I didn't
refer to that occasion.
For the definition of Exhibitionist I have two choices: (1) the
group defines itself as "For guys who like their naked bodies to
be seen by other men" and (2) from the Oxford English
Dictionary and Thesaurus "Exhibitionism - 1, a tendency towards
display or extravagant behaviour" and 2, Psychological
a mental condition characterised by the compulsion to display one's
genitals indecently in public. In saying it only counts if you
are displaying to non-nudists picks up on the last, Psychological
definition. Ok you have a right to that opinion. But I have a right
to mine, preferring the group definition or the dictionary's
primary definition - a tendency towards a display.
There are 55,045 members of TrueSwingers but only 13,850 (25%) have
any photos in their profiles. So, I guess, the other 75% are not
exhibitionists. Then some of the 25% have photos set to friends
only, with just a select few able to see them. Add to these those
with closed profiles guarded by a no-entry sign and suggestions you
go elsewhere. It looks like these don't like their naked
bodies to be seen by othermen,even nudist men, or women. My
thesis is that someone who enjoys others seeing him or her naked is
an exhibitionist, even if the viewers are other nudists. Why do we
need to throw the indecency element into exhibitionism?
Of course you can have a different opinion. If there were not
different opinions it would not have been worth asking the question
in the first place.
Anyhow what counts is that I enjoyed them watching me.
I get a thrill being seen naked in nudist places. I don't expose myself in places where I could be arrested for it because I like my freedom. One of the biggest turn-ons prior to sexual encounters is being seen naked. I get excited in the men's room if I see another man looking at my penis. There have been times I have gotten instantly hard when I look over and see someone staring at my dick. I am an exhibitionist because I enjoy exhibiting my junk. But I would never do something which could lead to me being arrested.

I definitely identify as an exhibitionist and I'm going to, with slight changes, agree with a certain definition of exhibitionism. "For individuals who like to be seen by others through displays of extravagant behavior ". This in my opinion doesn't say you're only an exhibitionist for the sexual thrill or by being naked in public. You're an exhibitionist anytime you put yourself on display in hopes of drawing attention to yourself. This could be anything from wearing light up tennis shoes to participating in a protest to exposing yourself in public in a sexual nature. An exhibitionist is a show off, and can be so in many different ways
Now... That being said I'm an exhibitionist because I like being seen and admired in public settings because of sexual behavior, sometimes joined if the situation is right. I like knowing I turn people on and I like them watching me be turned on and ready for some attention
