Return to DiscussionsI'm always comfortable nude in the gym lockerroom. Usually I'm the only naked guy, which is fine with me. But today there were a couple other naked guys taking their time at the shower, at the sink, shooting the breeze. I was talking with one guy I know who was pretty much dressed to leave while I was stripping to head to the shower. We didn't miss a beat in our conversation except for his brief stutter when I pulled off my shorts and jock and stood there starkers while talking about staffing at the gym. It sort of changed my frame of mind from casual nudity to casual exhibitionism. The fact that other guys were comfortably naked added to it. My gym gets lots less use in summer when the weather is nice. A couple of times this year on days off from work I was able to go for a workout during the daytime instead of my usual after-office-hours time frame, and as expected, there were more retired folks doing their workouts. Guys in the locker rooms were more in my age range, and I was happy to see 2 or more each time who were walking naked between the lockers and the shower area. That's a very rare thing in the busier times. The management now wants you to use the steam room with at least a towel on, and signs are posted saying we're supposed to wear a swimsuit in the hot tub (I know, it's ridiculous, and I hate it). On the days I was there no one bucked the trend in the steam room, including me. But if it's not busy I just wear a towel going into the whirlpool tub and open it when I sit down, and no one's called me on it. But I look forward to retiring soon so I'll be there in the daytime a lot more often, and I will certainly be one of they guys who carries his towel more than bothering to wear it.
My gym has the steam room, sauna, and Whirlpool all in the men's locker room. They are all clothing optional.
Personally, I strip naked at my locker after my workout and I stay naked the whole time I'm in the locker room. I find it comical how many guys will cover up or not undress at all. I think it must be a Midwest thing because that was not the case when I lived out west.
I do think the older guy s tend to be more comfortable being nude and generally don't bother with towels or swimsuits.
At my gym, they recently stopped putting up/replacing the shower curtains in the stalls, so theyre more open now. I always walk from the shower to my locker nude and use a small microfiber towel, which I cant wrap around anyways. I stay nude at my locker as long as I can, as I put my stuff away and clean up, and finally get dressed. I noticed a few more guys are slowly walking around nude a little more. I just wish we had saunas and steam rooms in the locker room. They are coed and not clothing optional. Now that would be awesome if they were clothing optional!
I am always walking around nude in the locker room. I figure if it's not appropriate there, it's not appropriate anywhere. If someone likes seeing my totally nude body, them I figure enjoy yourself. My wife says women are worse. They take their clothes into toilet stalls.
When I was a senior in high school, I had a somewhat embarrassing incident happen to me. I had turned 18 a couple of weeks earlier. It was a nice sunny day in May and my gym instructor let us exercise outdoors instead of remaining in the gym. I liked to run so that's what I did. The instructor blew a whistle early enough so those who wanted to take a shower would have enough time. I was all sweated up after running so I took my shower.
