Building a space! Mount Question
Return to DiscussionsIm looking to build out a bondage/bdsm space in my house. Thinking about doing it in my gym room, as it would be less obvious.
My question is: has anyone used TRX mounts on either the ceiling or walls as strap/rope mount points?
Im a bit concerned about the TRX mounts on the ceiling supporting the activities.
Thanks for the advice in advance.
Not sure what TRX mounts are, but for anything needing to safely support any kind of weight you will need a stud finder(available at hardware & home improvement stores) to locate wall studs and ceiling joist to anchor to. You can't attach them just anywhere that looks good, it needs to have some structural support members behind the drywall or whatever is covering them. Be sure to size the fasteners to accommodate the load they are intended to carry with a generous margin for safety above what you expect to support.

You need 4 point anchors rated to 1000 lbs combined at least. Anchors must go 2 inches or more into concrete and 3 into wide wood beams. Loops shank knots and hooks need beams or more anchors for safety. Any other ceiling is not safe for the weight.
