Trip to Houston for the WNBR is in jeopardy

Uh oh, I may have to cancel the Houston trip. There is a tropical disturbance in the SW Gulf of Mexico that has a 50% chance of development in the next 48 hours and 70% in the next 7 days and is heading north along the west shore of the Gulf so it could be a tropical storm or hurricane by the end of next week depending on how fast it develops and the direction and speed it moves. I will have to monitor it. Of course if I do have to cancel that will mean I will have 4 days straight off unless I claim a shift, so a couple beach days could be in order.

Not looking good. It now has a 90% chance of development in 48 hours. The forecast track takes it through the western part of Louisiana about the time I would be driving through.

Things are looking up. The latest forecast track shows it passing through South Central LA about 1am Thursday as a tropical storm. That is 34-36 hours before I pass through the area. The fact that it is moving so quickly means the flood and damage risk will not be as bad.

Yes, looks like a go. The current track has it making landfall in central LA at 7pm Wednesday, 34 hours at least before I would be passing through. By the time I pass through it will be in north western Tennessee. I may leave a couple hours later just to be safe.
