Some interesting points were made somewhere else.
One person said it gives the lady a feeling she is wearing something, for modesty.
Another asked at what size do they count as legal for beaches that only allow topless. He offered to act as enforcement officer, measuring the triangles.
Even those that cover the front let us admire the rear.

I was sent an advert for sunglasses and didn't even notice they were wearing sunglasses. They were wearing the tinyest Gstrings. Would I have been less distracted if they had been naked?

I imagine so - skimpy suits can be more eye-catching than none! They certainly draw more attention to what little they cover.
